Description

Tulsi is the pet name for Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum), this very beneficial plant is not so well known in the Western world, while in India it is THE NUMBER 1 in Ayurvedic medicine. Tulsi, therefore, means “The Incomparable” and is used to prevent and cure a wide range of ailments.

It is not easy to compare with the smooth basil that we know here as a kitchen herb, Tulsi comes from the family of the hairy basil and is spicier than the smooth basil.

The effect of Tulsi is in short, stress-reducing, blood pressure and blood sugar-regulating and is also pleasant in taste. The taste is spicy but not sharp, full of aroma due to the abundant essential oils.

Use:

• Put a full tablespoon of Tulsi in a pot of boiling water.
• Wait until almost all leaves have sunk.
• Pour the tea through a sieve into a teapot.

The tea can draw infinitely long and does not become too strong or bitter. Mixed with Moringa tea it is also very tasty, they also reinforce each other’s effect. With the drawn leaves you can also make warm compresses to treat pain spots.

In the summer months, Moringa’s Finest also produces beautiful Tulsi plants from which you can pick the fresh leaves yourself, the plant is long-term but difficult to keep alive in the winter.
